Bosch GOL 32 D is the level to use.

GOL 32D is an optical instrument used to establish and verify points in the same Horizontal plane. It is used in surveying and building construction with a vertical leveling staff to measure differences in height and to transfer, measure and set heights.

The instrument is set on a tripod and accurately leveled using foot screws. The operator looks through the telescope eyepiece while the assistant holds the staff vertically at a point under measurement. Data is corrected from a known point(Benchmark) with a known height determined by a previous survey, or an arbitrary point with assumed height.
